From Audioworm's blog who first mentioned Canting Away in public on August 14th, 2007.

Today was an average day on Runescape. I got a level, ran a ridiculously amount on the same monotonous run. However the day was Broken up by something slightly more interesting. I had successfully add Merch Gwyar the night before so when she logged on this evening she invited me into her 'Clan Chat' channel called 'Canting Away'.

We followed the name and as the title suggess, canted away for a very long time about various and random stuff (Pagans, Conspiracies and Banks O_o). It was all fun and helped pass the 100k Exp I needed to get 88 Woodcutting. Then Teacuptime joined the chat as well and instantly meant I had to spam him about BBBM. After another huge hack out of my Exp I was only a few exp off 88 Woodcutting. I invited a few people to come but in the end only Merch and Teacup came. The level, was as unorganised as usual. I told them to perform the emote when ready, so when I performed the emote they sent the message. We then fixed the problem and had a successful message (c b3l0 pl0x) we had a very brief conversation, mainl ab out me being F2P. We then all departed to get a cuppa'

It was a good day all in all and I sign off with two new friends and a brand new level.
